Angle Drill - 45°, .33 HP, 2800 RPM, 1/4"-28 Thread Review

When I began doing aircraft sheet metal work, one of the tools I learned that was important to have was an angle drill motor. There were many brands to choose from and I could have gone with the cheapest. However when it comes to drilling straight with precise throttle control I choose the Sioux brand. This drill is light and compact and fits easily between fuselage bays that make it perfect for doing stringer and web repairs. Also the body of the drill has a padded covering making it comfortable hold on to, even in cold weather. When it comes to drilling that is when I am happy I invested in such a quality tool. Drilling out rivets or drilling fastener holes are done with precision. The throttle is sensitive and the 45-degree angle head has zero 'run-out' play; no wobble as the drill bit spins. The 2800 RPM speed gives you a wide range to drill through soft or hard metals without any problems. Maintaining the drill is easy as the angle head has a mini zerk fitting on the back side for a squirt of grease, which I apply every week. Also a good practice to do before and after use, is to apply a few drops of air tool lube oil in the quick disconnect inlet. The only fault I found with this drill is that the throttle lever has no safety lock like you would find on their die grinders. When working in tight spaces there have been times when I was maneuvering the drill around, and the throttle would push up against a wire bundle or steel tubing and the drill would spin! If it had a safety lock for the throttle I would have given it a 5-star rating. Overall I would recommend this Sioux drill motor.
