i purchased this product from amazon a few months ago and have been using it almost every day. I have used it indoors several times to determine its close focus capability. this monocular can focus down to 3 feet! it does not give much away to the leica 8x20 monovid which i also own. if i give leica a rating of 10 (on a scale of 1 to 10), this product from eschenbach would have a 9.9. i paid $11 more for this than for the leica ($510 vs $499) but i gained 6mm more in the aperture radius. the eye relief is more than adequate (i did not measure it but i am positive it is close to 20mm) and the exit pupil is 4mm compared to leica monovid's 2.5mm. these physical attributes are the reason i rate this product very close to leica. if i limit my review to optics quality, i have to say the leica 8x20 monovid is noticeably superior. in my humble opinion, however, this 8x32 monocular from eschenbach gives me more for the expenditure involved. in closing, i'd like to mention that this item is not made of cheap plastic; the body looks and feels like its made of lightweight metal. the focusing mechanism is ultra fine---there is a lot of play involved to achieve the best possible setting for different users. this product can easily be considered a precision instrument. i highly recommend this product but with a caveat about the claim that with a battery, it can function as a 25x microscope---there is no compartment for a battery and LED bulb!
