Product Description

The Niagara Cutter C430 TiCN-coated carbide square nose end mill has four flutes and a 30-degree helix angle for general-purpose machining on a range of materials. The tool’s square end creates sharp, unrounded cuts, and the center-cutting design has cutting teeth at the end of the tool, so it can be fed into the workpiece like a drill bit. Four flutes produce a better finish than fewer flutes. The 30-degree helix angle supports general-purpose applications. It balances lower angles’ strong cutting edge for difficult-to-machine materials with higher angles’ increased cutting action.

The TiCN coating offers increased hardness and greater abrasion resistance than uncoated or TiN-coated tools. The carbide substrate is harder than high-speed or cobalt steel, making it more wear resistant at high speeds and providing longer tool life. Cutting diameter tolerance is +0.000” to -0.002”. The round shank accommodates a variety of holders.

End mills are designed to remove material and create multi-dimensional shapes and profiles. They have cutting edges along the outside diameter and flutes that remove chips from the cutting area and allow cooling fluids to enter. If heat is not reduced effectively, the tool’s cutting edges will dull and additional material buildup can occur. The number of flutes can range from two to eight. Chipper Shredder with 206cc Briggs and Stratton Engine Review

I bought this unit several months ago. Assembly went fast and smooth even though the unit is heavy. Adding oil was challenging until I noticed there are two oil fill plugs (right & left). Using the left one was much easier than using the right. The engine amazed me by starting on the very first pull! Note: when you pull the cord to start the engine, you're also rotating a heavy flywheel. Best to pull in a strong steady fashion (think of spinning up a flywheel rather than starting an engine).

The power of the chipper is rather amazing. It seems to have a sweet spot for branches between 1" and 2". It self feeds and eats those right up! However, I've fed an entire 20' buckthorn tree (leaves, berries, twigs and branches < 2.5") into the chipper. What I found works well is to take a branch with leaves/berries, dunk it into the shredder funnel (so the leaves/berries are removed) then send the rest of the branch into the chipper.

I have also been feeding dried wood from my brush piles into this chipper.

The bag consists of a very heavy duty fabric with a pull cord around the opening. This easily attaches to the chipper outlet. Chips and shreds are blown into the bag. It surprised me just how much this bag can hold!

The chips that are produced are excellent. Roughly the size of a man's thumbnail, the chips pack well and look quite nice. I put 2" of chips all around a raised strawberry bed and, after two months, no weeds in the chipped mulch! My wife very much likes the size of these chips.

I have not found the noise level to be objectionable. I seem to get a good run out of a tank of regular unleaded gas. However, there is one problem: the unit is heavy and it is hard to wrestle up hills. There is an adapter so it can be towed behind a lawn tractor, but at over $100 I'm reluctant to buy one.

Gotta say, last weekend two 8" buckthorns came down. Every last bit (< 2'5") went through the chipper. I got 5 stuffed bagloads of chips. Twice during the event, my wife said to me "I'm sure glad you got this".... or "This sure beats having a brush pile."

'nuf said.

October 26, 2013 Update. This chipper has continues to earn its keep. This Fall, for the first time, I started asking it to shred leaves. I have a 38" sweeper and gathered about 18 loads of cut leaves and grass (I'd mow the lawn short so grass and leaves are mixed together in windrows). That was a LOT of leaves/grass. I started dropping rake-fulls into the top hopper and found it worked great but it filled up the bag very quickly. So, I took the collection bag off the chipper and let it blow the shredded leaves/grass onto the garden (a 20'x20' space). The shredded leaves/grass eventually started forming a pile (sort of like a donut where the shredder output was the center and the shreds would form a donut around the center). The shreds were very fine. I had many twigs in the leaf piles and those when through the shredder just fine. I'd have an occasional clog when I dumped the whole rake-full of leaves at once. A "pusher branch" cleared those out just fine. I went through the whole 12 loads of leaves/grass and raked the "donut" into a pile. I noticed it was hard to rake because the fine shreds were very dense! Finally got a pile roughly equal to one-and-one-half loads of cut leaves/grass. So that is about a 12x reduction...approximately. This is going to be a marvelous mulch-pile! I'm real pleased with its shredding capability also!

Seriously, though, these are quality red brass nipples that are reasonably priced. They arrived with threads undamaged (always a concern with this soft metal) and I had no problem using them with Teflon tape the make air tight connections in my project. They are only rated at 125 psi, but I've been using them in a regulated, locking air chuck assembly that is routinely under 185 psi with no issues so far.

As mentioned by another reviewer, the alloy used in this pipe DOES contain lead, albeit it only a small amount (.05% max) so folks worried about lead content should be aware of the properties of the water the pipes might be carrying.

For those interested, the chemical breakdown of Alloy 230 (also known as UNS No. C23000) is as follows:

Copper (Cu) = 84.0 to 86.0%
Lead (Pb) = max. 0.05%
Iron (Fe) = max. 0.05%
Zinc (Zn) = remainder (approx 15%)

NEW Everlast PowerTig 200DX 200AMP 220/240 VOLTAGE PULSE ACDC WELDER Review

I have had this unit a couple of days. I accidentally ordered the last model instead of the 2013 model, but they sent the 2013 anyway. It has been about 8 years since I have used TIG on any kind of regular basis. The machines I used to use had nowhere near the adjustability that this unit does.
I had heard negative reviews about the foot pedal that Everlast provides, but the foot pedal seems fine, other than no adjustability. The torch on the other hand seems like the weak link on my unit. I received a black torch with a trigger zip-tied to the handle. The cups don't seat evenly and make the tungsten exit crookedly. The torch cable is stiff and covered with thick vinyl and a little difficult to position (stiff and slippery). The one in the picture looks a little better. Also, my consumable kit only came with 3/32 collets and 2 #4 cups, not a combination I would have chosen... but you will have to make a trip to the supply shop anyway for some tungsten. I will definitely be buying a different torch setup.
The stinger that came with mine was a red handled twist lock device that looks similar to the one shown.

So far, I have only been welding aluminum on the 2T setting. Once I figured out the controls and got it set up, this machine made very controllable puddles with the foot pedal. I tried the 4T setting with the torch trigger and kept loosing my arc for some reason..The 4T control is going take some getting used to. Also, the regulator that came with my unit is in LPM not scfh.....That took me a while to figure out. so set to 7LPM for a roughly equivalent 15scfh.

Man the fan is loud, I really had to turn up the tunes in the shop.

It actually seems pretty decent and puddles aluminum just as well as the old Miller synchros. The square wave does seem a little harsher/snappier than the old synchros. more of a harsh zzzzzzzzzzzzzz than the smooth vvvvvvvvvvvvv sound that the synchros made.
