Product Description
The Standard Gage 07734004 LCD electronic height gauge has a measurement range of 0” - 24”/0 - 600 mm, an LCD digital readout precise to 0.0005”/0.01 mm, with + or - 0.002”/0.05 mm of accuracy, and RS-232C data output to transmit results to a computer for statistical process control (SPC).
This height gauge has an electronic microprocessor providing the ability to hold a measurement at any position, to set a temporary zero position and return to a true zero reading, and to convert between standard inch units and metric, and to absolute value . The RS-232C output port transmits results to a computer through an interface cable (not included) for statistical process control (SPC). The scriber, used to mark a position on a workpiece, is 15.7 mm x 75 mm (H x W), carbide-tipped for hardness and to help prolong life, and is held to the gauge by a screw clamp for fastening ease. A calibrated screw mechanism supports fine, uniform slider adjustments. The grip-base helps hold the unit in position by hand. The unit comes with a protective case, a CR2032 battery, and an inspection report./p>
Height gauges, also called gages, are precision measuring instruments that travel on a vertical column (also called the beam) to measure and/or mark the vertical distance from the base of an object in fine units. The vertical position of the gauge and its attached pointer are changed by turning a calibrated screw, or one or more feed wheels. Recorded rotations are read from a scale, a dial, counters, and/or an electronic display. A screw clamp holds the pointer to the gauge. The pointer is typically sharpened to act as a scriber, and can be used to mark position on a workpiece by scratching its surface. On compatible units, the scriber may be replaced by an electronic touch-signal probe. Height gauges are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering.
Standard Gage manufactures precision measuring equipment and metrology hand tools, and is a product line by Hexagon Metrology. Standard Gage is headquartered in North Kingstown, RI.

Standard Gage 07734004 LCD Electronic Height Gauge, 24" Measuring Range, 0.0005" Resolution, +/-0.0020" Accuracy Review
The height gauge is OK for our use, but could have/should have been betterWhy:
1. The wooden storage box bottom was coming apart, unglued or stapled when removed from the shipping container. The shipping container was not damaged.
2. Some of the internal wooden block used to nest the height gauge in the storage box were broken.
3. A battery was not included with the height gauge and the brief instructions did not state the specific type of battery required.
I would not buy another one.
