Product Description

The Starrett 77A-6 “Fay” spring-type divider caliper opens to 6” (150 mm) with very rugged construction. The legs are made of heavy square stock, machined to a smooth taper, for easily reproducible and accurate transfer of measurements, scribing lines, arcs, and circles, and marking distances between two points.

This caliper has heavy, square, straight legs and comes with a solid nut. Bow spring is flexible yet strong, for reliability. The centrally located adjustment rod ensures smooth action when opening and closing the caliper. The hardened fulcrum stud is strong to help prevent give or play in the measurement, which would reduce accuracy.

Calipers measure the distance between two opposing sides of an object. They make inside, outside, depth, or step measurements, according to their type. Calipers are commonly used in architecture, metalworking, mechanical engineering, machining, manufacturing, carpentry, and medicine. The simplest calipers have two legs to mark the two points and require a ruler to take the measurement. More complex calipers use two sets of jaws instead of legs and have up to two graduated scales. Vernier, dial, and digital calipers give direct and accurate readings and are functionally identical, having a calibrated scale with a fixed jaw, and another jaw with a movable pointer that slides along the scale. The vernier caliper has a scale sliding parallel to the main scale for an additional, fractional reading to improve measurement precision. The dial caliper has a circular dial with a pointer on a toothed gear rack replacing the second vernier scale. As with the vernier, this second measurement is added to the reading from the main scale to obtain the result. The dial caliper is used also for measuring size differential between two objects. Some digital calipers can hold data readings between measurements and send them to data collection devices.

The Atago 4422 PAL-22S is a handheld, portable, water-resistant honey refractometer with a honey moisture scale that measures in the 12.0 to 30.0% range, has automatic temperature compensation (ATC), an LED display with external light interference (ELI) technology, and an acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) resin Ingress-Protection (IP-65)-rated body. Handheld refractometers, also known as sugar meters, concentration meters, or Brix meters, are commonly used in the culinary, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, educational, geological, chemical, and ecological industries, and for water-testing applications.

This refractometer is housed in an ABS resin body for use with honey samples. The 4422 PAL-22S features ATC for immediate, accurate readings, with an ambient temperature range of 10 to 40 degrees C. The unit is factory-calibrated (calibration certificate not included) and can be calibrated with tap water. The metal sides of the sample well allow the sample temperature to conform quickly and evenly to the prism temperature for accurate measurements. The sloped shape eases sample pouring, and helps avoid spills while taking measurements. The outer shell is shaped for easy gripping, with raised grip dots on the back side where the fingertips rest. The LED-illuminated digital display with ELI technology helps provide accurate measurement near windows or outdoors. ELI alerts the user that there is too much light, such as direct sunlight, penetrating through the prism. The unit displays both honey moisture and temperature within three seconds, and comes with a protective plastic storage case with a foam cut-out insert to cushion the instrument.

THE HIGH PRICE (COMPARED TO OTHER ERGONOMIC OFFICE CHAIRS) WILL SCARE MANY BUYERS AWAY FROM BODYBILD CHAIRS; HOWEVER, THE DIFFERENCE IN COMFORT IS WORTH THE PRICE (AT LEAST TO ME). ALSO, THE "WEIRD-LOOKING", DEEPLY CONTOURED SEAT MIGHT TURN SOME POTENTIAL BUYERS AWAY; HOWEVER, JUST SITTING IN THIS CHAIR FOR A FEW MINUTES WILL CONVINCE A BUYER THAT HE SHOULD TAKE A SECOND LOOK AT THE BODYBILT LINE OF CHAIRS.

Starrett S908Z Inch Toolmakers' Set Review

Pros: probably the best tools you can own, the calipers and micrometers operate smoothly and the indicator is extremely sensitive as well as has a larger measuring range than other indicators and more attachments.
Cons: Only thing I could come up with for a con is that I wish they had more that just the 0-1 inch micrometer in the set it would be nice if they made a set with a 0-1, 1-2, and 2-3. Also it is kinda expensive but defiantly worth every penny.

Hitachi DH50SBK 2-Inch Spline Rotary Hammer Review

I fab and install handrailings. I have 2 of these and pretty much all I do with them is drill 1-1/2" holes with spade style carbide bits. They lose there ooomph over time... under 1 year. I dont use them every day may be 3 times a week. I was told I can bring the ooomph back with the rebuild kit offered by Hitachi but at $60 to $70 for the kit every half a year ... it seems silly. They did work great (both of mine had the same problem)for a while but not long enough for me to buy again. I am switching to the 2" makita spline drive.... I'll review that one later!
