Ditto the previous review. Off hand I'd rate the Hitachi a conservative 15% more efficient at punching the same hole with the same bit. I have used the Bosch and liked it in the past but am glad I tried the Hitachi. Besides it's effectiveness it is also lighter and more comfortable especially if not using the detachable handle grip. It just seems to get after it more like the larger tools available than the mediums to smalls.

The x and y axes are helped by roller chain mechanisms at a pitch of .25". The chain and sprocket combinations are ANSI #25 specification. The z-axis uses lead screw at 1/2"-10 TPI @ 5 starts for a travel of inch with 2 turns. Accuracy and smooth operation is maintained using an anti-backlash nut on the z-axis.With the roller chain and remarkable precision that this machine provides, you will be able to apply this machine for a wide variety of projects and machining various materials including aluminum, wood, plastic, steel and other materials. I purchased this item from the seller's website about 5 months ago. I had been interested in building a CNC machine for a while, but I'd been putting it off since I didn't have a strong understanding of what hardware and electronics were required. Considering the price of the build materials and the electronics --- I really didn't want to go about it through trial and error. After a bit of research I finally ended up purchasing the blackfoot cnc machine. The kit included everything I needed to build out the machine excepting the table, computer, and software. In other words, you get everything you need to build the gantry (minus the wires) and it is up to you to build the table and put together a software solution. You'll also need the router.

I've been running the machine several hours a week building furniture and other items that would take many hours of measuring, cutting, and shaping. The results are excellent.

Since the machine is a bit over 4x8 feet it also functions as an excellent panel saw. Although a 1/8 bit makes a wider cut than a thin kerf sawblade would.

Also, the seller's buildyourcnc website has a huge amount of helpful documentation. And in the time since I purchased the blackfoot cnc machine the documentation has improved even more.

Festool RTS 400 EQ Sander + CT 36 E Dust Extractor Package Review

We're renovating a couple of rooms in our home. I needed to remove some ceiling beams, sand off some wallpaper residue, patch drywall and paint. An electric palm sander I tried generated a mountain of fine dust that took hours to clean up. I didn't have too much luck with one of the rectangular sanding screen gizmos that attaches to my shop vac via a 5 gallon covered paint bucket partially filled with water. It catches the dust very well, but the screens seemed to lose their grit very quickly, the vacuum was deafening, and it was a lot of work.

So, I bit the bullet and got this Festool package. It's my first Festool purchase.

The sander is amazing. It is light weight, well balanced, it works well, and collects dust amazingly well. The paper attachment is via a velcro-like fabric that works much better than adhesives or clips.

The vacuum is extremely well made, has tremendous suction (I have to turn it all the way down for use with the sander - otherwise it practically sticks to the wall). The two tools together are not quiet, but not deafening (unlike the shop vac).

I used 120 grit Festool paper with the sander. It works well. The paper lasts a good long time without clogging. I suspect I'll get even longer life by using a slower speed with the sander.

Highly Recommended.
