I ordered these to assemble my treated SYP deck boards on the deck in my own yard. They are stainless with Torx drive. I am 60 yrs old. This is the second time I have replaced this deck in 35 years of ownership. I do not want to rebuild this deck again. I looked carefully for good screws.

Before, I had used another major brand deck screw from a major big box store (square drive). After several years of service, as I attempted to remove these tan screws, 1/3 had broken 1/2 way into the boards.

When I received the GRK's I put them through my workplace tests. I drove them into 2x6 on 2x8 joists. I drove the screw until seated (without pilot hole). Backed it out. Drove it into a different hole. Backed it out. Did this 15-16 times. The screw did not break and did not cam out. I was very impressed. The Torx is a much more positive feel than my previous deck screw.

Yes, these cost more than the other screws and although the big box caries GRK, they don't carry this. I got a good deal off list on Amazon. If you are using these on your own deck, if you care about customer happiness several years down the road, then spend a little more on quality screws. I live in Houston, and corrosion is an issue. The SYP that I use has a limited lifetime warranty, I want screws that stand up to that lifetime.
