The Niagara Cutter C230 TiAlN-coated carbide square nose end mill has two flutes and a 30-degree helix angle for general-purpose machining on a range of materials. The tool’s square end has straight cutting edges that create sharp, unrounded cuts, and the center-cutting design has cutting teeth at the end of the tool, so it can be fed into the workpiece like a drill bit. The two flutes have better chip-carrying capacity than end mills with more flutes while offering additional support when the tool goes deep into the material in applications with a high depth of cut. The 30-degree helix angle supports general-purpose applications. It balances lower angles’ strong cutting edge for difficult-to-machine materials with higher angles’ increased cutting action.

The TiAlN coating resists heat better than TiN and TiCN coatings, increasing tool life and performance. It also offers increased hardness for abrasion resistance and may reduce the need for lubricants based on the application. (TiAlN is suitable for a range of materials, but TiCN or uncoated end mills are recommended for machining aluminum.) The carbide substrate is harder than high-speed or cobalt steel, making it more wear resistant at high speeds and providing longer tool life. Cutting diameter tolerance is +0.000” to -0.002”. The round shank accommodates a variety of holders.

End mills are designed to remove material and create multi-dimensional shapes and profiles. They have cutting edges along the outside diameter and flutes that remove chips from the cutting area and allow cooling fluids to enter. If heat is not reduced effectively, the tool’s cutting edges will dull and additional material buildup can occur. The number of flutes can range from two to eight. Two-flute designs offer the most efficient chip removal, but more flutes provide a smoother finish. The shank is the end of the tool held in place by a tool holder or machine. Center-cutting end mills can create three-dimensional shapes and profiles, and make plunge cuts similar to a drill bit. Motic SMZ-168 Advanced Stereomicroscope Review

I've had this microscope for over a year, and I think it is the best stereo zoom microscope on the market anywhere near this price. I've compared it side by side with a Meiji Techno EMZ-13 microscope, which costs nearly twice as much, and the Meiji build quality and optical quality weren't even close to this Motic (I returned the Meiji, of course). I also purchased Motic's 20x eyepieces, and they are very good, allowing magnifications up to 100x with really nice image quality.

I have the plain, wide stand and no built-in illumination (I have my own LED ring light), and I like that stand a lot. The stand post is quite robust, with a large diameter and plenty of height. The microscope's focusing block performs really well, and like the rest of the microscope, the build quality and design elements are terrific, especially for the price.

I didn't purchase the microscope at Amazon, as it wasn't sold here at that time, but I'm a longtime Amazon customer and occasional reviewer, and this microscope is a great piece of equipment. I also owned a lower-quality stereo zoom microscope that cost about half of what the Motic does, and the quality difference between the two microscopes was so obvious that I was immediately thrilled that I had purchased the Motic, even though my lesser microscope was only about a year old.

You would have to spend a few thousand dollars more to get a stereo zoom microscope that still might not have better image quality or better function, and you can certainly get much lower quality while saving maybe $400-$500, so my recommendation is to simply buy the SMZ-168 and consider it money well spent on a great microscope.

Masslinn.

It's a wonderful thing. I have worked at over a dozen nuclear power plants and at government nuclear facilities for over 30 years. If they have anything in common, it is masslinn. Masslinn is used as a wipe to test for contamination, as well as a method to remove contamination. This is my job and I generally walk around with a piece of masslinn folded up in my back pocket. My bad luck, sometimes I forget to take the masslinn out and it finds it way home with me.
Masslinn is essentially an oil impregnated dust cloth. When used it picks up dust and leaves a slight shiny oil film.

What I use it for:
1) This is great for the inside of your car. It removes the dust and leaves a shiny dash board, seats, etc.
2) I use this as a general dust cloth for small items, such as my displayed chess pieces. I simply pick up each piece and roll it around in my hand.
3) I use it on furniture when I don't feel like polishing.
4) Coupled with a masslinn mop, this works great on hardwood floors, removing dust, making them look shiny when you don't have time to wax and the in-laws are coming over.
5. I use it to remove dust from wall photos, fans, end tables, chess boards. Until last week, I have used it on my analog projection TV screen and plastic color projectors. I have also used it on my computer screen, and it still works.
6.) I use it on old dull record LP covers to make them look better. I suppose it might work on old baseball cards.
7.) This is great for all kinds of leather. I use it on my Easton Press leather covered books.

The masslinn cloth is double sided for extended use. Also they don't dry out like those wet cloths. You can leave a pack open for years and it will still be effective. The cloth is super strong, but tears in one direction by hand, very easily.

WHAT IT IS NOT:
1) This is not an absorbent. It will absorb some water. That is not its intended use. Water that comes in contact with masslinn for an extended period of time will turn yellow.
2) This is not a wipe for your kid or a napkin for your face.
3) This does not remove grime or ground in dirt. It is not a Swiffer Wet Jet. I have used both to clean and decontaminate linoleum. The Swiffer Wet Jet works better than masslinn. If you want something to remove the dust bunnies on your floor, the masslin mop will work.
4) It does not disinfect, although things look so shiny clean you would think it does.

A box can last years.
