Hougen Portable Magnetic Drill 2-1/16" HMD914 Review

Been using one of these for about a year, for work. I've probably done in the neighborhood of 400 holes in steel plate and tubing. I have the one with the swivel base (HMD914S), and the drill chuck adapter too, which I use most of the time. I rented and used the milwaukee one first, and then chose this one after just seeing but not using it. It was a good choice. It's loud, powerful, heavy, solid, tight, well built, but at the same time, compact. This is the way tools should be made. A lot of thought went into this tool, and you can tell. If you need a mag drill, this is a very good option. The only thing I wish was there were some longer slugger bits in the sizes I need, but that's why I got the chuck adapter, to use standard jobber drills. Even though that is the case, I still think this is the best one on the market, at least for me.

JET 354210/JDP-20EVS(230V) 20-Inch Electronic Variable Speed Drill Press Review

I looked long and hard before shelling out the $$$ for this drill press. I even spent about 2 months searching for a used one with similar features. Eventually, I came to the conclusion that there was no way to duplicate it's features.

It is an industrial machine that I will use for both wood and metal, yet it operates off 230 volt single phase, thanks to a variable frequency drive.

The speeds are variable over a wide range thanks to the variable frequency drive, and it retains full torque throughout those speeds.

Switching between the two speed ranges is by a gearshift lever on the side of the head. The gear mechanism is bathed in oil so it shifts ranges and runs smoothly and quietly.

The production table is really unique. It rotates, when the table is unlocked, on a 5" bearing. You just won't believe it how smoothly. And by the way. both the table lock and table raise/lower are accessible from the front of the machine which is a REAL plus for me. Now I don't have to crawl around the back of the drill press and bang my head on my shaper to get to it.

That production table can support over 200#, and even when fully loaded it moves up and down smoothly and easily. That ability allows me to place a 100#, 16" by 8" XY table ( a new piece available from Grizzly) on it along with a heavy 8" vise and still have plenty of load capacity left to handle heavy workpieces. On my old machine I had to lift on the table while cranking and really struggle to move it up, even unloaded. Now it is just one hand on the crank, even with 160# of XY table and vise loaded on the table. This table is perhaps the best feature of the machine.

When combined with the finest Milwaukee cobalt drill bits and a top quality Jacobs chuck with integral 3MT shaft, the runout is exceptional. I can drill through most woods at and angle with essentially no tearout on the exit hole, even without brad point bits.

The 6" spindle travel allows for easier setups and less fussing with table height.

I haven't had an opportunity to use the tapping feature, but I'm sure it will be just as smooth as everything else I've done with it.

I give Jet a lot of credit for designing a really nice machine, and getting it fabricated to very high quality from an asian manufacturer. I'm glad I purchased it, and would recommend it to anyone who needs a high quality drill press.

My ONLY issue was with the shipping crate which had been damaged on the bottom (the pallet) which didn't harm the machine but made it a bit difficult to pick off the truck with a forklift.

The Oakton 35630-62 PC 10 meter is a handheld, waterproof conductivity and pH meter with kit that comes with a pH/conductivity/temperature probe, cable, calibration solution pouches, rinse water pouches, sample bottle, and hard carrying case. The meter is commonly used to measure pH and conductivity of a substance in water testing and treatment, and in laboratory and industrial applications.

This meter, which floats if dropped in liquid, features push-button pH calibration of up to three points for resolution across a wide range of results, and it has ATC for accuracy. It has dual-line, simultaneous display of pH or conductivity, plus temperature in degrees C for ease of reading. The meter comes with a combination pH/conductivity/temperature probe (with protective cap) with a cell constant K+ 1.0, conductivity temperature coefficient 2.00% per C fixed. The meter is 19.0 (l) x 10.0 (w) x 6.0 (h) cm, and it weighs .92 kg. It works with four 1.5 V AAA batteries (not included) for up to 50 hours of continuous use, or an AC adaptor (included).

Three days ago, my husband let the dog out for the night at about 11 PM. I hear a small commotion outside, then the next thing I know, the dog has run into the house, rubbing her face on the carpet near my feet. An instant later, the smell hits me - the nastiest, brunt rubber, garlic, formaldehyde combo I have ever experienced. It made me, my husband, and the dog gag uncontrollably. The poor, stupid pooch got too close to a skunk and got hit right between the eyes! And us stupid owners took her into the bathroom to wash her instead of back outside. Dumb, dumb, dumb. We got some of the smell off the dog, but she still stunk to high heaven - and the entire house soaked up the smell in the meantime. Every piece of upholstered furniture, every piece of clothing (even the ones in closed closets and drawers!), all the towels, carpets, curtains, pillows, and rugs, even the dishes and plastic containers in the kitchen - EVERYTHING smelled like skunk spray.

In a panic I start trying to find a solution on the Internet, and came across this product. I ordered two 1-liter bottles for next day delivery. While waiting for it to arrive, I used all the home remedies I had on hand: coffee grounds, vinegar in bowls around the house, baking soda, Febreeze and other air fresheners. Nothing brought us relief; they only masked odors for a short period. My husband even came home early from work because his coworkers couldn't stand the smell of his clothes and briefcase. When this BioWorld product arrived, we were desperate for a solution. And amazingly, this unassuming little product delivers. It doesn't just mask odors, it eliminates them and works quickly. It comes in a concentrated solution, and you can use water to make a solution or add it to your other cleaning products. I added it to all my laundry loads (I think I am on my 20th load of laundry in 3 days!) and to the carpet shampoo before cleaning the carpets and couches with a steam cleaner I rented. I used it in a spray bottle with water to spray directly into the air and washed everything down in the kitchen, even hard surfaces. Also used it on the dog to get out the rest of the smell - it is safe to use on pets, even on doggie faces (I used a washcloth, careful to avoid the eyes). I even put some in the shampoo and body wash we humans in the house use to get the skunk funk off our hair and skin. This thing works wonders. I still catch a small whiff of skunk here and there in the air, but this product made things 100 times more bearable. (Opening the windows and letting a stiff breeze in the house works to get out a lot of the lingering smell in the air.)

Skunk spray in the home is a living nightmare - I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. This BioWorld Odor Neutralizer has been the only thing that has helped us regain our sanity and finally get back to feeling normal again. I recommend it 100 percent. I plan on ordering more to keep on hand for the next time the dog is sprayed (I love my dog, but brilliant she is not). For anyone out there who is experiencing a similar crisis, I feel for you. Get this product and wash everything in your house in it. It will work and you'll get through it!

This is an outstanding product if you can get it at a reasonable price. It saves our facility staff a lot of time and is quite versatile. However, it was shipped to us without the kit that contains the doors and related parts. This was eventually resolved by the manufacturer, but took a few phone calls and e-mails before everyone realized what had happened. It also arrived with a broken cotter pin that held one of the wheels in place, but this was quickly replaced by the manufacturer. We are now very happy with the product.
