When I began doing aircraft sheet metal repairs, I use to think a drill motor was a drill and bought myself a cheap palm drill. However as I worked with veteran sheet metal technicians what I noticed was their drill motor of choice - Dotco 1/4" drill motor. When you are doing a fuselage patch that has a 100-plus rivet holes, using a 3/8" drill motor will just tire you out! The Dotco 1/4" drill motor is the perfect tool because it is light, drills straight, and has the power to drill through any kind of metal. The trigger is so sensitive you can tease the trigger a bit to set the drill bit tip in whatever you about to drill, and the chuck has zero 'run-out' play making for precise drilling. Maintenance is done by a small zerk fitting found on the gear housing which located aft of the chuck.
