I purchased a 24-pack of the 2 oz size. They were packed in a box inside the Amazon box, with thin cardboard separating each bottle. No padding, but none of them were broken. I'm using them as small spice jars to utilize the extra space between my regular spice jars and the top of my spice drawer. I'm no expert, but I'd say the amber shade is medium - dark enough to be light-protective (if the spices are outside the drawer for an extended amount of time), but light enough to see the contents (although I labeled them, of course). The glass seems to be of good quality. The bottles went through the dishwasher (top rack) looking good as new.

There are only two things I can think of that would make these better: 1) offer them in a case size smaller than 24 (6 or 12 would be great), and 2) the mouth could be wider, although that's not the fault of the product. I can only fit up to a 1/2 tsp measuring spoon inside. If I really cared, I could have purchased straight-sided amber glass jars, but they were quite a bit more expensive and the dimensions weren't ideal for my purposes.

I like these so much, I just ordered a case of the 4 oz size to hold larger amounts of spices and loose teas.
