Flents Quiet Contour Ear Plugs (1 Case - 72 Pack) Review

I had never used foam ear plugs until I went on an overnight transantlantic flight where they were provided. Those were orange, bullet-shaped things that were of very dense foam, easy-ish to insert, stayed put, and did a good job of blocking noise so I was able to sleep. I liked them enough that I grabbed every unused packet as we were deplaning. Now they are all used up, so I tried these Flents countour comfort foam ear plugs.

The Flents are easily inserted. You can't push them in excessively far because of the flared end. The contour theoretically fills the corresponding space in your ear canal, blocking out sound. These ear plugs worked moderately well. If I was awake and concentrating, I could identify some noises. But I had no trouble falling asleep and the neighbors' dogs haven't once awakened me while I was wearing these. I found that, once inserted, I could improve their performance and their comfort by tugging a little on the top or bottom of the flare. The orange ones would sometimes make my ear canal a little sore. These don't make my ear canal sore, though occasionally the flared end will touch the wrong place and the external cartilage might give me a twinge.

These ear plugs sometimes fall out, something they shouldn't do if the contour properly fits the contour of the ear canal. It doesn't matter if they are fresh and new or if I have used them before or how conscientiously I put them in. I sleep semi-reclined and don't toss and turn at all, so it's not the result of getting bumped or jostled. The foam of the Flents is not as dense as the orange ones, which stayed put. I'll take the Flents' occasionally falling out over the orange ones that stay in but hurt my ear.

There might be better ones out there, but these will do just fine. I'm glad I got them. I'll get them again.
