The Microline TFC-4 under-sink reverse osmosis system contains a four stage filtration system that supplies up to 35 gallons per day of purified drinking water - right at the sink! The system uses a high quality T.F.C. reverse osmosis membrane with a sediment pre-filter, carbon post-filter and in-line polishing carbon filter. The free replacement filter set includes the pre, post and in-line filters. These units include a pressurized polymer holding tank, color-coded tubing for easy homeowner installation, chrome dispensing faucet, and under-sink cartridge assembly that is easily accessed for quick filter removal and replacement. Also included is an automatic shut-off feature that stops the purified water manufacturing process when the holding tank is full. Units are NSF standard 58 approved, use only FDA approved materials of construction, are tested to meet Water Quality Association Gold Seal standards, and have a limited 5-year warranty on materials and workmanship.

I did a significant amount of research before finally settling on this system. We have a well drilling company in our area that has a reputation for selling water treatment systems that perform at a very high level. When I called them to find out what they had for under the counter RO systems this is what they had. They were asking $550. I found it here on Amazon for $330. Way to go Amazon community! I don't know the details but Microline is actually one of the largest manufacturers of RO systems. What they do is sell their systems to several other companies that then put their names on the Microline system.

When comparing prices it's important to know that this system includes a replacement set of each of the filters excluding the RO membrane. That's close to a $100 value. Most other systems don't have replacement filters included in the price.

This system is very easy to put in yourself. All the hoses are color coded to eliminate confusion. All the fittings are the quick connect type that you simply push the tubing into for a connection. For hooking up the water supply the directions give details for both galvanized and copper pipe but don't provide the part or directions for those who will be connecting into PEX plastic pipe. I went to one of the big box stores and got a simple T-connector for $5. Voila!

When the system is making water I can't hear it at all. When it first begins there is a small momentary squeak that lasts only about a second and then it's silent. A lot of the cheaper systems seemed to get complaints about noise?!

The quality of the faucet is good for the standard that is quickly becoming acceptable for most plumbing fixtures. It looks nice, performs well, but doesn't appear all that durable. That's why I only gave the system 4 stars.

Finally, the water has been tested, tasted and found to be very GOOD! I am on a well and this is the first time in 12 years that I can truly say my water is excellent!
