Product Description

The Oakton 35606-20 Acorn Salt 6 portable salt meter is a handheld, waterproof and dustproof meter that comes with a probe (K=1.0). The meter is commonly used to measure Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) and temperature of a substance in pure and sea water testing, and in laboratory and industrial applications. This meter features push-button calibration with five, preset ranges at most used values for a wide range of results. Temperature compensation is automatic or manual from 0 to 100 degrees C. It has a hold function for ease of recording readings, and an auto/off function that shuts the meter off after 20 minutes of nonuse. It features two measuring modes of 0 to 50 ppt or 0.1 to 5%. The meter comes with a conductivity/TDS/temperature probe (K=1.0), and a protective rubber boot for meter protection against environmental conditions with a built-in stand for functionality.

The 35606-20 Acorn Salt 6 meter has a TDS range 0 to 50.00 ppt; 0.1 to 5.0%, resolution 0.1 ppt; 0.1% ppm, accuracy + or - 1% full-scale. Temperature range -10.0 to 110.0 degrees C (14.0 to 230.0 degrees F), resolution 0.1 degree C (0.1 degree F), accuracy + or - 0.5 degrees C (+ or - 0.9 degrees F). ATC from 0.0 to 50.0 degrees C. Temperature coefficient 0.0 to 3.0% degrees C, normalization temperature 20.0 degrees C and 25.0 degrees C (selectable). The meter is 5.5(l) x 2.7(w) x 1.3(h) inches, and weighs 0.9 lb. It has up to 70 hours of continuous use with four 1.5 V AAA batteries (not included).

Genie Lift, GL- 8, Straddle Base - Heavy-Duty Aluminum Manual Lift, 400 lbs Load Capacity, Lift Height 10' 0.5" from Ground Level Review

This is a fine tool. Its build is robust, and it is easy to operate. It has a telescoping mast, which is just under six feet high when lowered and a bit over ten feet high when fully raised. A manual winch and a system of pulleys raise and lower the mast smoothly; upper half of the mast slides in grooves in the lower half, and the two parts fit together quite precisely.

The machine has hard rubber wheels (preferable to pneumatics, in my view), and a "straddling" base, each arm of which has three independent width settings. The machine is very stable on level surface, but maneuvering the wide base in tight places can be tricky.

The mast can be locked in lowered position and the winch handle stowed; the lift can then be used as a large hand truck or a dolly, since it has a pair of auxiliary wheels on the top of the mast, as well as a padded handlebar. All of the adjustments (base width, fork orientation, mast locking, stowing the winch handle) are done by means of spring-loaded pins and require no tools, which is convenient.

I have used this lift in some large-scale house renovation, and for moving machine tools around the workshop, and it has done everything as promised so far.

The only negative comment that I have is about the packaging: the forklift came in a flimsy cardboard box, completely inadequate for its weight and size. I gave Amazon a black eye rating for this, and I hope that they will pay attention.

Our research lab has been using this rocker model for at least 7 years, and we have been very happy with it. Our old model stopped running after about 6 to 7 years, which is a good life for it, so we purchased another one just like it. We also have a 2nd platform from the company that we were able to move from the old machine to the new one, and we like that very much, because we can handle rocking many containers at once to accommodate everyone in the lab on their projects. The company selling this rocker actually recommended we purchase from Amazon.com, as they were in the process of building new models, and would not be able to process our order for a few weeks.

Sumpro Model 75 (2199.99) - BATTERIES INCLUDED - Battery Powered Generator with Transfer Switch for Sump Pump Power Backup - Sumpro Model 75 Review

We had this unit installed September 2008. The first of two AC outlets on the power head had died only 19 months after installation. At that point, the Sumpro 75 was no longer under the 1 year warranty.

The remaining AC outlet on the power head just died-after 4 years and 5 months of use. I am looking into on how much it will cost to have the unit repaired, versus buying a new one.

The battery portion seems to be working as it should, with the green light flashing, and the unit is receiving power from the wall outlet. Fortunately, we just had a new secondary pump installed with a 9 volt battery powered alarm, that just alerted us about the power outage-or we wouldn't have realized the remaining outlet had failed, and our pumps were not receiving ANY power, regardless of the lights being on.

While I have enjoyed the maintenance free aspects of this Sumpro 75, I feel that it isn't as reliable as it should have been given the price paid. Owners should be aware that even though it appears their unit is working, they may find out the "hard way" that their pump was plugged into a dead AC outlet on the Sumpro 75 itself. I also found out that our previous secondary pump did not have an alarm. I highly recommend an alarm with this unreliable system.

Updated review to 4 stars. The warranty is now 3 years on this unit, instead of one year, when initially purchased. Customer service was excellent. Axel was very helpful.. My unit was repaired at no charge. The duplex outlets had simply failed and were replaced.

AmScope Professional Trinocular Compound Darkfield Microscope 40X-1600X Review

Good quality build for the money. Good image quality, claimed magnification seems correct compared to a Leica system I use at work. You can easily see shape of blood cells. I use at work. X-y stage quality a nice surprise. Solid heavy design, not precise in every way but good where it counts. Is well aligned, good adjust-ability for light. The dark field works very well.

Field of view was not great, but better then I expect at this price. 100x objective is oil type. Wish it were air, or oil/water. I also wish it had a high power LED light,

Shopping, for this microscope I saw many comments concerning Amscope in general, basically saying you should buy a used scope. That this is the "only" way to get a good value in low end scopes. About 10 years ago I agreed, and I bought two as gifts for nieces and nephews. At the time this was great. However this time I could not find any good deals on used scopes (non less than 4x the price with dark field). For around the same price I payed 10 years ago for used scopes, this Amscope is better in some ways, equal in most. I would have preferred to buy used, but did not find half this value. And I did not have to worry about scratched lenses.

Added note: later bought Amscope Canon SLR to c-mount adapter (wth 2x mag) and 23mm 20X eyepieces. These worked as expected in this scope. The canon camera adapter was overpriced, yet much cheaper than alternatives I have found.

If anyone has tried the 25x eyepiece please comment.
