Grizzly G1126 Gear-Head Mill/Drill Review

This is a Taiwan unit & the quality increase is very noticeable, everything works properly. this round column design is cheaper than the square and offers more Y axis table movement. With a little planning ahead I do not have to unlock the head. I just got rid of a square column china unit because of the noise & crude machining, with this Taiwan unit I can live with the noise level. the lockup of the head to the column is impressive, I am going to keep this one.

for what it is worth, the noisy unit was a international hobbies w/o any cnc, they let you think it is American, the cnc stuff is, the company selling it is, the mill is out of china.

6 MONTHS LATER:

I am happier than before, I have replaced the really cheap handwheels & shift levers & put 3 axis DRO on the unit. I also mounted a laser on the side of the head to use when needed. ( I shoot about 25' so accuracy is outstanding)
